In all of their 16-colour, 320×256px glory – here are some screen captures from my original Amiga version of Krusha.

Title screen. Lovingly rendered in Deluxe Paint IV. Invites you to press fire to start, and little else. I forgot how awesome the music was!

Gameplay – for the first 30 seconds everything is blue and relatively easy. Collect the cars, avoid the bad thing, score points.

30 seconds in – when things turn green everything starts to get faster.

And then yellow gets faster still. I died at this point – evidently I am out of practice, given that it’s been about 12 years since I last played. The final phase is coloured bright red – at that point the game is lightning quick and doesn’t let up until you (inevitably) die.

Once you’re dead your times and cars crushed are shown, along with a scrolling message appraising your performance.

And finally, everything is boiled down into a number, depending on time survived, small cars crushed and bonuses collected. And then – straight back into the game again, to see if you can best your previous run!
